Silk flowers, they are all the same, aren’t they? is a frequently asked question.
Just like most things, quality can vary and that is no different for artificial flowers, from the low grade to quality silk right up to the fresh touch flowers. The difference can be seen, felt and is often reflected in the price.
I only use quality artificial and silk flowers as well as soft touch foam roses, which are colour fast too. The last thing you want is for the colours of your soft touch foam roses to transfer to your clothes, a BIG no no! I am a firm believer that quality rules and should you be on a very tight budget I would always recommend going for a smaller bouquet made with quality flowers, rather than a big bouquet made with low grade flowers.
Soft touch foam roses tend to be a less expensive than quality silks and come in a wide variety of colours. They are lightweight and can have embellishments added to bring some greater interest. They only come in roses, so if you are looking for an all rose bouquet, this may be an option for you.
High quality silk flowers really do come into their own. You can choose from a wide variety of flowers in a multitude of colours. You are able to have your favourite flowers at any time of year, without worrying if they are in season or not. The flowers are more realistic than even so your guests will be surprised to learn that they aren’t real.
Fresh touch flowers are the highest quality artificial flowers that are currently available. The detail is immense and the petals even feel like the real deal, they are amazing! As these flowers are the most expensive they are only supplied to order. The disadvantage with these blooms is that they have the tendency to fade, especially the lighter shades but the darker colours seem to suffer less with this.
There are many choices out there for you to choose from. Even if you are set on fresh flowers, I would always recommend having a look at quality silks, I think you will be surprised!
As a former fresh flower only type of women I love quality silk blooms and the versatility they bring. Whichever you decide to choose, have a good look, maybe order a buttonhole to see the quality and workmanship or visit local fairs to see what the flowers actually look like close up…… and by all costs avoid anything with plastic dew drops!!
