For every wedding or event booked, a tree will be dedicated in your name.
How it works
I will use a partnering non profit organisation to plant a tree in a location nearby to the region you live (subject to availability). If that area is full your tree shall be planted in the nearest available place. Each tree shall be dedicated to you as a gift from me that will last a lifetime. The trees will only be planted in areas that are maintained so that your tree will live to maturity. You will also receive an emailed certificate with a dedicated number so that you can easily identify the woodland your tree is planted. The trees are always planted in areas that will fit in their surroundings and won’t dominate existing flora.
But why?
I have been thinking a lot lately on how I can make a bigger impact to the environment whilst running my business. I already make a conscious decision about the packaging I use, that they can be recycled and/or reused.
The fact that my flowers can be reused or repurposed, means that they live longer than a day or even a week. Yes, some of the flowers contain elements of plastic but they are not single use. My flowers are not meant to be used for the day or week and then be thrown away. I have introduced the hire aspect to my business, which allows for you to enjoy flowers on the day of your wedding or event, without the concerns of wastage. My flowers are not sprayed with pesticides which effects wildlife and the environment too.
I have been looking for a way to reduce the carbon footprint of my business and the flowers I use for your wedding, event or gift and this is the perfect way to do so.
Impact on the environment
According to DEFRA (Department of the Environment, Fisheries and Rural Affairs) shipping by sea has a far less carbon footprint on the environment than air freight. By using their conversion rates it is estimated that 2 tonnes of cargo carried 5000km would emit 6,605 kg CO2 by air compared to 150 kgs CO2 by container ship. As you can see the difference is huge especially when fresh flowers are imported daily unlike faux flowers.
As a planet we do not have enough trees. The UK itself is way behind the Governments tree planting target. According to ‘The Guardian’ we are 71% short of the current target set. (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/jun/13/tree-planting-in-england-falls-72-short-of-government-target)
Every tree planted makes a difference.
By dedicating a tree, we aim to help, maintain and improve new woodlands and provide local people with opportunities to live healthier, more sustainable lives whilst reducing our carbon footprint.
Your dedicated tree can also help to offset up to 1 tonne of carbon dioxide throughout the life of the tree. That’s good for you, your friends, wildlife and the planet.
I am so excited to bring this to you, little by little we can make a real difference. If you have any questions or would like to find out more then feel free to drop me a message.
Much love
